2015 Season - Week 18

BUMS Wildcard Weekend

For the third consecutive year the number one seed crashes out to the 16th seed as the Weymouth Bay Bargaineers upset California Dreams (#1) 19-10. For the 2nd consecutive year the hopes of doing the double are over in round one as Gang Green (#2) were bitten by Tring Tarantulas (#15) 30-19. Langley Raptors (#3) are now the highest seed as they downed (#14) Brockley 33-16. Daz (#13) also scored 33 the highest total of the week but got a walk over as Dave G (#4) didn’t enter a team. (#5) Sofa Wreckers were upset by (#12) Leamington Spartans in the closest match of the weekend 19-21, while Marcus had the biggest win, (#6) Phoenix Fire Warriors 27-3 Karori (#11). Mark (#10) shocked Andy H (#7) 19-15 while Cheryl (#8) beat her youngest son as Rhodesia defeated (#9) Willoughby 28-21. So the Divisional round is Chief (3) v John (16), Marcus (6) plays AP (15), Cheryl (8) takes on Daz (13) and Mark (10) hosts Craig (12). Teams to me by 10am Saturday so we can sort out swaps. This is a strict deadline, miss it and you are out, sorry. NFL Wildcard Weekend The first wildcard game was a snore as Kansas City (#5) shut out Houston (#4) extending their winning streak to 11 games. But a snore is not how you could describe the last quarter of Pittsburgh (#6) at Cincinnati (#3). Sadly marred by awful officiating (who got no help from NFL Hq despite the new HQ processes in place for the playoffs). With cheap shots and personal fouls throughout, and disgraceful scenes by the end, an injured Ben Roethlisberger returned to the field to lead the Steelers to an 18-16 game winning field goal. Sunday saw a real defensive battle which Minnesota (#3) seemed to have won as Blair Walsh lined up for a 27 yard field goal as time expired, but he stunned everybody as he missed leaving Seattle (#6) winning 10-9. In the final game of wildcard weekend #4 Washington took an 11 point lead but then Green Bay (#5) re-found their missing offense in the second quarter and scored 35 points to win 35-18 making it the first time in Wildcard history that all four away teams won. So it’s Kansas City (#5) @ New England (#2) & Pittsburgh (#6) @ Denver (#1) in the AFC and Green Bay (#5) @ Arizona (#2) & Seattle (#6) @ Carolina (#1) in the NFC Divisional round. BUMS on Seats Due to Saturday night parties we will meet at HQ on Sunday at 2pm to watch as live the first Saturday game Kansas City @ New England followed from about 4pm with the late Saturday game Green Bay @ Arizona and then at 6pm live Carolina hosting Seattle. We’ll be at Johnnies on Monday from 7pm for the second Sunday game Pittsburgh @ Denver, so no spoilers please. As always all are welcome, let the hosts know. If you’re still in the chase for BUMSBowl XX - DON’T FORGET TO SEND YOUR TEAM ASAP (See prices attached)
